WHAT IS THE WALK AND TURN TEST?

The walk and turn test requires the driver to take nine heel-to-toe steps in a straight line, turn on one foot, and take nine more heel-to-toe steps back. The officer administering the test looks for specific clues, such as losing balance, stepping off the line, or using arms for balance. If a driver fails the Walk and Turn Test, they may be arrested for DUI and taken to a police station or hospital for a blood or breath test.
